<image:caption>Abuse and Human Trafficking in Texas About 1 in 4 women have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime and reported some form of IPV (intimate partner violence) related impact (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Additionally, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Texas is ranked number 2 behind California in human trafficking. Houston is number 1 among all cities in Texas. Some prevention strategies include teaching skills to prevent sexual violence and providing opportunities to empower and support girls and women. E.V.E. seeks to inform women by instilling modern techniques and methods that will help shield them from potential threats and safety risks. Obesity In Texas, approximately one in three residents are obese, putting the state in 10th place (tied with Oklahoma) for the highest obesity rates in the U.S. (Kowalick, 2019). Data from the March of Dimes 2019 research shows that 32.6% of women between 18-44 in Texas are obese. Obesity levels are closely tied to social and economic factors, with lower-income individuals being more at risk. Therefore, E.V.E believes that offering free fitness alternatives will enable women to fully focus on their health and contribute toward the reduction of obesity in the process.</image:caption>
